Simon Strasser, born in Stuttgart, studied oboe with Prof. Jochen Müller-Brincken at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, with Prof. Ricardo Rodrigues at the Hochschule für Musik Berlin and with Prof. Burkhard Glaetzner at the Universität der Künste. From 1997 to 2000 he was a member of the Jungen Deutschen Philharmonie (German Youth Orchestra). His fascination with the unheard and unusual led him to ensemble mosaik in 1999. Founded in 1997, the ensemble has made a name for itself in the development of the modern music scene both nationally and internationally. With the pianist of the Kammerkunstverein Hamburg, Franck-Thomas Link, a long-lasting intensive collaboration has been established. In the Berlin Oboe Quartet he discovered for himself the irresistible sound of four double reed instruments. He has been a guest in ensembles including the Ensemble Resonanz Hamburg, ensemble courage Dresden, Kammerensemble für Neue Musik Berlin and has performed with Pierre Boulez with the Ensemble Modern Orchestra.
